Early City of Oak Ridge, Street Maps
The 1950s City of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Subdivision Plan Grid is composed of twenty-five columns, numbered 1 through 25, and thirteen rows, lettered A through M. Not all of the peripheral cells contain maps. The sheet numbers for each map are set out in the cells of the following table. Below are the sheet numbers for the locations of a few well known areas in the city. Use them as reference points to aid in your search for the map you need.

Sheet F-1 is the Western Extent of the grid on the Roane County/Anderson County line.

Sheet F-8 shows the intersection of the Oak Ridge Turnpike with Jefferson Avenue.

Sheet F-12 depicts the Grove Center area including the Swimming Pool and New High School (present day ORHS).

Sheet F-17 depicts the Jackson Square area.

Sheet G-17 shows the old Castle on the Hill (later AEC Administration and now DOE area).

Sheet H-17 shows the intersection of Bus Terminal Road, Administration Road, and Laboratory Road.
You can use the online search services of the Anderson County Register of Deeds office to find, view, and download individual 1950's era Oak Ridge street maps. To do so, navigate to the Anderson County Register of Deeds website at: http://www.andersondeeds.org/

On the landing page navigation area select "Document Search" under the "Online Services" pull-down menu.

On the Document Search page select "Search By Name".

On the Name Search Page, under "Name Type Selection", select "Both".

Under "Search Type Selection" select "Pure Alpha Search" if it is not already pre-selected.

Under "Index Type Selection" select "Both".

Leave the start and ending date boxes blank.

Enter the Sheet Number in the "First Parameter" search box.

For example, entering "F-17" will bring up the map containing the Jackson Square area.
